Branding & Identity — Chicago, IL

A brand isn't a logo.
It's a system.

Your logo is one mark. Your brand is every place it lives — the website, the sign above the door, the Instagram grid, the invoice footer. NVIL designs complete identity systems built to stay consistent everywhere your business shows up, in motion and at rest.

The philosophy

Designed to be recognized, built to be used.

A good identity does its job in a half-second glance: the right customer sees it and understands what kind of business they're dealing with. That takes more than a nice logo. It takes a system — a mark that works at every size from a favicon to a storefront sign, colors with exact values instead of "kind of a red," typography that carries the same voice on a business card and a billboard.

NVIL builds identities the way we build websites: deliberately, with every choice earning its place. You get concept directions with reasoning — why this geometry, why this palette, what it signals — not a folder of options to guess between. And because we build for the web natively, your brand ships ready for screens: crisp at every resolution, tested in dark and light modes, with social and app-icon variants cut from day one.

Then, if you want it, we make it move. Animated logo reveals, video intros, interaction details — motion branding turns a static mark into something people remember watching. The intro sequence on our own homepage started as a concept sketch on our brand sheet. Now it's the first thing every visitor sees.

What you get

The complete system.

  • Primary logo & variations — full lockup, standalone mark, circle and app-icon versions, and light/dark variants, each tested at real sizes in real contexts.
  • Color system — a defined palette with exact hex, RGB, and print values, plus guidance on what goes where and what never touches what.
  • Typography — display and body pairings with weights and spacing defined, so everything you publish looks like it came from the same business.
  • Brand sheet — a single reference document your printer, your social manager, and your future self can all follow.
  • Every file you'll need — vector sources, transparent PNGs, web-optimized assets, social avatars, and favicons. Delivered organized, named sanely, yours forever.
  • Motion branding (add-on) — animated logo reveals and intro sequences for your website and video content.

Proof

Identities living in the wild.

Clarity House Chicago needed to feel safe, warm, and credible from the first click — a gold-and-charcoal identity with a skyline-in-a-house mark, carried through every page of the site and every printed piece families hold.

The NVIL identity itself — the forge-inspired NVML mark, the strike-red palette, the motion system on this site — is our own case study. The brand you're looking at is the portfolio.

FAQ

Straight answers.

What's included in a branding package?

A primary logo with variations (mark, wordmark, app icon, social avatars), a defined color palette with exact values, typography pairings, usage guidance, and every file format you'll need — print-ready vectors and web-optimized assets. Motion branding, like an animated logo intro, is available as an add-on that most clients end up loving.

How long does a brand identity take?

Typically 1–3 weeks: discovery, concept directions, refinement rounds, and final delivery. Paired with a website build, brand work runs first so the site is designed inside the identity — not decorated with it afterward.

I already have a logo. Can you work with it?

Absolutely. Plenty of businesses have a logo they love and nothing else — no defined colors, no typography, no consistency between the sign, the site, and the socials. We build the complete system around what you have, or modernize it carefully while keeping what customers recognize.

What is motion branding?

It's your identity in movement — an animated logo reveal for your website, video intros for your social content, and interaction details that carry the brand. The NVIL intro sequence on our homepage is motion branding. It's the difference between a brand you see and a brand you feel.

Why does branding matter for SEO?

Google increasingly rewards brands people search for by name and trust when they arrive. A consistent identity raises click-through from search results, keeps visitors on your site longer, and earns the branded searches that signal authority. Design and rankings aren't separate conversations — that's why NVIL does both.

Do you design for print and merch too?

The identity system is built to travel — business cards, vehicle wraps, signage, apparel. We deliver print-ready files and coordinate specs with your printer so what shows up matches what was designed.
